YES I'M STILL PAINTING THE BACKS OF THEM.
Oh bugger. Something's happened and I can't post after my last picture again, except by using the caption function so I will try and muddle through. Right a few things to sort out before the usual nonsense. Namely a very warm welcome to 2 new followers. First to be welcomed is Michael Awdry, if you haven't checked out his blog 28mm victorian warfare then you really should, he's even dabbled in zombies. Second on to the welcome wagon is Paul Smith who runs the End Transmission's gaming stuff blog, another blog that is well worth checking out. Thank's guys and welcome, strap in and enjoy the journey. It might not be very bumpy but I'm sure it's going to take awhile.
OK then, let's crack on shall we? These are the first of my season 1 Zombicide zombies. Now considering these are not gaming miniatures but board game pieces, then they are bloody good gaming miniatures. Nice sculpts, Ok not the fingers, and only 8 poses(did I say these were board game pieces). I really didn't notice how nice these were until I started painting them. The little details pop out on you as the basecoats are applied. I'm proud to have them in my horde, that's even before you play the game which is with out a doubt one of the best board games I have ever played. Stop getting sidetracked.
From Left to Right we have first an example of a runner (a fast zombie) this is one of two sculpts that come with Season 1, and my favourite of the two. He's called Alun. Next in line is a casually dressed zombie, the first of three male walker sculpts in this first season, he goes by the name of Berwyn. Following along is a shirt and tie clad zombie, the second of the three male walker types, his name is Carwyn. Finally in today's line up we have Deiniol, the smartest dressed in a suit and tie, the last of the three male walker types. I'm not really sure how to finish the bases yet, I think I'd like to try some of the various newspapers and police tape detail downloads I've seen, but for now I just painted them.
Well thats all I got for now, except a big pile of unpainted Zombicide figures to get back to, so until next time heed the words of the DUDE and "take it easy".

Good to see you have finally made a start on your Zombicide collection, Bob. I painted mine in small batches of four of each sculpt. The trouble is, there are so many of the buggers to paint. Regarding their bases, i went with the same method I use on my normal slottabases - sand and gravel. from a visual standpoint this means I can combine these figures with my other zombies and they tie in well together. the height difference between their bases and a normal slottabase is barely noticeable. Whatever you decide, I would urge you to not leave the bases plain grey. That's way too boring, even if it is the easy option.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bryan.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to paint mine one line of the tray they come in at a time, just for a little variety. Yes, there sure is a lot of buggers to paint. Don't worry, I won't leave the bases plain. I've seen a few downloadable old newspapers and police tape etc that look really good, just need to get a printer. If things don't go to plan I intend to paint details from the board on to the bases. The DUDE doesn't allow boring.
Oh, that's pretty unreadable. If you can't post after the picture, there are probably no spaces in between them. Try writing something, then pressing enter two times and writing something again. Then put your cursor in that free space between two texts, upload photos and edit text for the win :P.
ReplyDeleteZombies look great as usual, for the bases, I'd just go with what you've done with the rest. Adding some paper and tape every now and then does sound like a great idea, but don't over do it (for the sake of your sanity!)
Thanks Mathyoo.
DeleteIt was all good until I deleted something I'd typed, I think went too far back and lost my space. Thanks for the technical tips and help though.
I've also seen some nice debris for bases, but sticking to paint effects is more within my budget if not my skill set.
If you accidently delete something when typing, perssing the CTRL key and the Z key will normally take you back to where you were. This key combo can also take you back quite a few steps undoing mistakes etc (I'm forever accidentaly deleting piccies and I use it a lot to get them back)
DeleteThanks Joe.
DeleteI think that will be a massive help to a techno-dumbass like myself, I'm always making mistakes and deleting stuff I don't mean to.
Great start to the zombicide figures. Blogger sometimes has a mind of its own. Sometimes it worth typing out all your text add photos then cut and past the text to where it supposed to go. It drove me potty writing the game reports for ATDE.
ReplyDeleteThanks Simon.
ReplyDeleteBlogger can be a little twitchy sometimes, thanks for the technical advice. It drives me nuts now and again.
Great start to the zombies! It's a great feeling watching your horde come together
ReplyDeleteThanks Paul.
DeleteIt is a great feeling building your own horde. I really like your greyscale zombies.
You've done a great paint-job on what you say are just game pieces, but hey, they're very good pieces ! - The horde continues to grow.
ReplyDeleteThanks Joe.
DeleteThey are very nice figures, perfectly usable for our type of games (no board). The horde will swell considerably after this lot are done, that's without the various add-ons and expansions, never mind Season 2 the Prison.
Nice one Bob. Painting ALL the figuires from Zombicide is a feat in itself, you've already done so many zombies already you've got plenty to be proud of, you'll get there. I decided to re-base my Zombicide minis, a bit of a task, but now I've started...
ReplyDeleteThanks Adam.
DeleteIt's got to be done. Still unsure about the direction I'm going to take with the bases.
