What's occurrin' then?
Another week has shot by, they seem to be getting faster and faster, or is that just me? Lost more painting time this weekend as the 6 nations invaded once again. Still it was worth it, we beat the Irish putting us back in the hunt for the championship. A magnificent display from our boys.
Right, let's crack on. We shall start with what has become a regular feature, a piece of zombie art. This week brings another wonderful and weird masterpiece from the superbly talented Bryan Baugh. It's called The Mud People. Enjoy!
Considering the name of this blog, there hasn't been many zombies painted this year. Well that's about to change, as I present you with the first zombies of the year. These are made from the last sprue in the Wargames Factory survivors box, with the addition of some Studio plastic arms and some Mantic zombie heads.
This is my first proper run with the new Zombicide paints. They seem very good I particularly like the zombie shader and the two blood effects paint. All in all, not a bad result.
So from left to right we have Amlodd, he was a steel worker and member of the National Guard. Next is Baglen, bit of a tearaway and former member of the Cwmbran Massive (local gang). Following Baglen is Cadog a former mechcanic who also loved disco dancing. Last in line is Derwyn a formerly successful buisnessman.
There you go then, this years first zombies. Don't worry there's more to come.
So I haven't been just painting, I've done a little shopping too. I picked this beauty up at a local charity shop for the princely sum of £1. Take off some of the dumb toy stickers, give it a dirty wash and it should be good to go.
Just to prove Joe doesn't have the monopoly on tractors, I also got this for the same price. Same deal, dirty it up and it should look fine. Great for ploughing through zeds.
My copy of '68 Scars came this morning, totally making my day, so I have a little bedtime reading for after The Walking Dead. On first glance the art and story still looks excellent.
Well I guess that's all I got for this time dudes and dudettes. So until next time do as the DUDE and "take it easy".

The zombies are cracking! Great job!
ReplyDeleteThanks Gordon.
DeleteThe first of many! I hope.
Top job.
ReplyDeleteIn mind of the "Welsh slant on things" (no, I'm not going to say Zombie Sheep) when can we expect a Zombie Tom Jones?!
I like the colour of the flesh. I've always been too scared to try grey and always either stuck to green or pinkish. I'll have to give it a go.
Thanks Roy.
DeleteYou never know when Tom will turn up, like in Mars Attacks!
I've tried most colours for the flesh of zombies, green, pink, brown and grey. These guys just happen to be grey, I like to vary it a little to give the horde some variety.
The zombie at the end of the line, Derwyn, has green skin with a purple wash.
DeleteIt's all looking good, Bob - figures, vehicles, new paints and a corking good graphic novel. No wonder you're so happy!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bryan.
DeleteIt's all gravy baby! The vehicles were a steal at that price. The new paint seems to be performing well, the shader and blood effects are excellent.
I can't wait to dive into '68 Scars later and continue the adventure.
You didn't even mention Rue Morgue arriving this month, I'm bouncing with joy.
As a fellow zombie kit-basher, I am really happy to see more of them! Those mantic heads make for some pretty fearsome looking zombies- damnit now I have to buy some!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are enjoying '68, I am on the third TPB myself....
Thanks Chris.
DeleteThe mantic zombies make great conversions, the heads are very characterful. Just need a bit of sprue for a neck. Next post you'll see one with a full torso swap, that will show more of the detail on them. Very good.
'68 is a great series, every zombie fan should read it!
Some great looking zombies, Bob. The Zombicide paints seem up to the task at hand.
ReplyDeleteThanks Finch.
DeleteThe Zombicide paints are pretty good, the one's I've used anyway. The shader and blood effects are excellent.
The paintjobs on these show quite how versaitle this paint-set is; I really do like the earthy colours.
ReplyDeleteYour vehicles are excellent and I'm very jealous of your mixer, whilst your tractor is a far superior model to the chat I bought (but I did get a trailer with mine), both great finds Bob.
Can't say I'm a fan of comics (adult or otherwise), but whatever rocks your boat as they say.
Thanks Joe.
DeleteThe new paints are doing the job so far, the shader and blood effects are very good and give some nice results.
The only trouble with charity shops are they are hit and miss, you can't guarantee you'll find anything, makes the finds even sweeter though and the prices are silly cheap. My local favourite sells ten books for a pound.
I know you're not a comic fan, but if you ever decide to read one '68 is a great place to start. Especially if you like zombies.
The zombies look excellent. The paint seems to a be a good choice!
ReplyDeleteThat concrete mixer is an awesome find. You are right, everyone needs one for their apocalypse! I'll bet a simple wash makes it fit the bill right off.
Thanks Steve.
DeleteThe paints are pretty good, just a bit limited in colours at the moment.
The concrete mixer was a great score, hopefully a wash will sort out it's toyness.
great zombies and am really liking the look of the paints. Looking forward to seeing how the vehicles turn out.
ReplyDeleteThanks CW.
DeleteThe paints seem to be performing quite well. I must admit to being a little daunted by the vehicles. Fingers crossed eh.
Nice looking zombies dude. The kits mix quite well. The mud people remind very much of mr Tarzombie :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Simon.
DeleteI think the kits mix well, sometimes a little off but not so much as to stick out. The Mantic heads are a little big but they ain't Chibi.
Bryan Baugh has done a Tarman in homage but I see where your coming from.
Really nice job on the zombies Bob. And until now, I didn't even know that there was such thing as a zombie shader.
ReplyDeleteThanks F.E.M.
DeleteIt's a new shader that came in the Zombicide core paint set, pretty good too.
Nice zombies, but those vehicles are the REAL winners!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mathyoo.
DeleteYeah, got pretty lucky with those finds.
Gratz to the first painted zombies they look great and the newcement truck and tracktor will look great with some paint.... keep it up dude!
ReplyDeleteThanks Andre.
DeleteHopefully they should look OK once they're dirtied up. I shall keep it up dude.
Some more fantastic paintjobs Bob. Your output and quality is quite astounding my friend... doubtless inspired by "'68" I'd wager :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Bk.
DeleteMy output still isn't what it was last year, I was pushing out 8 a week most weeks. I think for the sake of my sanity and my wallet, I'm more comfortable with this amount.
Yes '68 is inspiring, I really like the colour of their zombie flesh, I'm sure it will filter through to my painting sooner rather than later.
Sorry Bob I don't know how I missed this!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rob.
DeleteNo worries dude!
