A LITTLE MORE CARD MODELLING.

What's occurrin' then?

I mentioned last post that the Rugby World Cup might have an impact on my hobby time. Well, it has but I wanted to at least get another post in this month. To this end I've managed to complete a little card modelling, mostly done at half times and between games.

Even though there's a major distraction, we can't let that derail the cultural mission. This time I present you with another masterpiece by Bryan Baugh. Not many more examples of his work left to show now. This fine example is called Drippy Zombie. Enjoy!

DRIPPY ZOMBIE!

Like I said just a little card modelling completed around some of the fantastic games this Rugby World Cup has provided. It's mostly boxes for set dressing and interior detailing. All the boxes came from Model Paper World, they are designed by the infamous TommyGun and are free to download. The car and dumpster can be found at the Combat Storm website, again these are free downloads.

LOTS OF BOXES!

I'm trying to use as many free downloads as I can find to cover my playing area, the two sites mentioned above have some great stuff available and have given me a good start in this venture. Some of the smaller stuff can be really fiddly especially when you've got great big shovels for hands and massive sausage fingers like me. To this end I found those little elastic bands, the ones all the kids were playing with (loom bands), invaluable for holding these together whilst the glue dried.

I was shooting for a Sunday post last weekend but a certain fantastic win at Twickenham and the following celebrations put paid to that. I'd just like to wish the boys all the best for the game against Fiji tomorrow.

The beginning of October tomorrow, the official start of Zombtober. This is going to be only my second one, but last year was pretty cool and it was great to see everyone's work and connect with some like minded bloggers. It's growing into quite a "thing".

So I'd better get the cobwebs off my brushes and my thumb outta my ass, it's painting time. Hopefully Zombtober will provide the impetus to get my pitiful painting progress back on track. I'm really looking forward to seeing everbody's work.

Well, that's all I got for this time dudes and dudettes. So until next time try and take a leaf out of the DUDE'S book and "take it easy".

  1. I don;t fancy that sheriff's chances against that horde Bob, not unless Heinz have put something extra special in that box of tin beans beside him ;-) That's a very nice assortment of scatter terrain you've put together, though as you say, some of it does look rather fiddly. The dumpster and car look suitably scaled too.

Really looking forward to Zomtober myself and seeing your output - hard to believe its been a year since I stumbled across your wonderful blog. Enjoy the next month, dude :-)

    1. Thanks Bk.
They are special "survivors" beans with added grit and determination so you never know. That's only about a third of the scatter I've got printed and actually stuck to card. I was quite pleased with the car and dumpster as there was no fiddly resizing.
It is hard to believe it's been a year, time just seems to be zipping by. Thanks for your kind words about the blog. Looking forward to your unique take on Zombtober myself.

  2. The car looks pretty good scale wise and I can empathise with your digital manipulation problems.

Combat Storm is a pretty good site, the stuffs about the right scale. They even have some ISO containers which you might not have.
Big hands are not a plus for this hobby!

  3. Those boxes look really good.
Why does the "A-Style" box have on it two stick-people doing it doggy-style? :))

This is the kind of stuff needed, but often missing, to make a tabletop look a little more real.
I have no idea about the reason behind the design but it's funny!

You could resize them before printing them out. Do your own maths mind!
There are several free scale converters on line.

  6. I'm saving all of your Bryan Baugh pics in a folder as I really admire his work. I just want you to know that I truly appreciate your efforts to showcase the works of various artists on your blog.
You can't go wrong with boxes and crates for scenery clutter. Good on you, dude!

To make you aware, I've only picked out his zombie work, I know you like your vampires and werewolves. There's a lot more of that on his deviant art gallery, including other iconic horror characters. He's awesome.

  7. Well done dude! The boxes are somewhere on my own infinite to do list. They are the perfect add-on for scatter terrain. Who doesn't want to find a giant FedEx box after the apocalypse? It could be anything!

My list feels infinite too. They have to be done eventually. As you said a giant FedEx box, exactly it could be anything.
The MRE boxes and First Aid kit could be used as objectives in a pinch also.

Not only little things, just lots of things in general. Paper downloads are helping immensely.

  9. Simple but effective card modelling IMHO. That 2nd photo looks realistic enough from a distance. Sad to hear that not much Bryan Baugh drawings left though.

Simple but bloody fiddly card modelling.
I'm sure I'll find another zombie artist soon enough, although Bryan's stuff has been great.
