SCRATCHING AN ITCH!

What's ocurrin'.

This lack of motivation seems to be lasting longer than usual! Still no painting done. I thought I'd post a few pics to get peoples opinion on something. This blog is into it's second year and initially was to track the progress of my ATZ gaming journey. The progress has been severely sidetracked by my very slow painting of my Zombicide figures. All three seasons! I justify this by the fact that I will be using them for ATZ, to myself at least, until now.

OK, let's not forget the cultural mission. This time I have another masterpiece from Savagezombie aka Chris Bolton to show you. And it's a cracker! This one is called Singlet Zombie, classy or what? Enjoy!

SINGLET ZOMBIE.

Well, I still want to play ATZ and I'm itching to get a few practice games in. To try and scratch the itch a little, I  tried to set up a playing area. So I guess what I'm after is the answer to the question, is it enough?

I know that a lot of it is unfinished, that will be dealt with eventually. I just really want to walk through a few games to get the hang of the rules, before I spring it on the Wednesday Night Irregulars. Which won't be for sometime yet by the look of things.

So I'll let you check them out and hopefully you can leave your opinion.

VIEW FROM NORTH TO SOUTH.

I do have a couple more questions. How many PEF markers do I need?

ISOMETRIC FROM NORTH WEST CORNER.

How many zombie spawn markers do I need?

ISOMETRIC FROM SOUTH WEST CORNER.

Not too many vehicles at the moment, I've printed out 8 more. They're stuck to card and have been cut out, just need scoring and gluing.

A CLOSE UP OF SOME SHIPPING CONTAINERS.

This card modelling is not as easy as some people make it look! Cough, BRYAN, cough.

CLOSE UP OF WAREHOUSE ENTRANCE.

The ground tiles came courtesy of Sheldon, what a Dude! The darker one is from a DUST tactics set, whilst the lighter one came with his Deadzone stuff.

THE COPS MUST BE DRY CLEANING THEIR UNIFORMS. I GUESS BLOOD IS A STUBBORN STAIN.

So these last couple of weekends I have been really busy watching sport. Weekend before last there was a little thing called the Superbowl, some of you may have heard of it. That same weekend saw the Six Nations rugby championship kick off, well I am Welsh!

VIEW FROM THE WESTSIDE.

This weekend saw a continuation of the Six Nations, so that kind of put paid to that. Got to cheer the boys on, see.

VIEW FOM THE EASTSIDE.
Don't forget The Walking Dead is back from it's mid-season break tonight, woo hoo!

Well I guess that's all I've got for this time dudes and dudettes. So until next time y'all keep walking the right path, following the DUDE'S footsteps and "take her easy".

  1. Dude, you've got a nice set up going there. Some scatter terrain and a couple more vehicles and you're good to go. I like lots of terrain to get that urban claustrophobia :-) do some solo gaming and see how she feels dude

I have a few more card vehicles in progress. Scatter terrain will need to be addressed though. Hope to get a few walk throughs in to really set the rules. Then some solo stuff before it's unleashed on the WNI.

Fine is good enough for now, it's only for practice games while I really learn the rules. It's very much a WIP at the moment, there will be more stuff on it....eventually!

  3. I only paint (and have been doing precious little even of that lately) so consider my opinion suspect, but I'd say take the game out for a test drive.

I like suspect. Getting myself some L plates then!

  4. It looks great, Bob. As Andy said, maybe add some more scatter terrain. To answer your questions - how many PEF counters do you need? Three. How many spawn point markers do you need? None. This is ATZ you're playing, which doesn't use spawn markers. Unless you have a house rule for using them.

And you're right - card modelling is not as easy as it looks. It took me years of practice to be as good as I am now!

Have fun and play lots of games!

More scatter is a must it seems. Three PEF counters I can do. No house rules for now, I want to try it out of the book so to speak. At least until I know what I'm doing.

Card modelling is definitely not as easy as it looks, so years of practice it is then.

It's taken long enough, I will get better hopefully!

  6. Your table is already looking good enough to play on as it is Bpb, - well done.
The typical ATZ game uses a square of 3' or 4' but obviously bigger games are not prohibited!
No spawn markers for ATZ (I think I'm the only one that doesn't like new zeds arriving "out of the blue" at 12 " from the noise source). You'll need three PEF counters too as has been stated.

It's taken a while even to get it to this stage. A fair bit more to be done yet but I can't wait to get going on a few practice games.

  7. That is a great looking table, it should make for some fun times! Seems everyone else had given you the rules info, remember this ain't Nam, there are RULES man!
If you decide to go with spawn points/markers, be sure to share your rules so we can try them out as well.

Fun times indeed dude. It will do as a starting point, just to get the hang of the game. I'll need some variety sooner rather than later though.
I'll probably leave the spawn points for the moment, until I'm more familiar with the rules.
      Smokey, mark it zero!

  10. Wonder how different ATZ rules are from 5150 scifi ones?

Regardless, the set up looks ace mate. Could use it for all sorts of different genre gaming. Is it sturdy being all printed and such?

I have no idea, this is my first foray into skirmish gaming.

They are pretty generic modern, would fit lots of genres easily.
The two larger buildings are made from foamcore, very sturdy as long as you don't crush them in storage.

It could have many uses, I only want it for ATZ mind!

  12. Coming from a total terrain noob, I think more cars will do the table wonders. But then it would block movement of the minis wouldn't it? Anyways, it looks great!

More cars are already under construction. They would do the table wonders, having re-read the rule book D6 vehicles are mandatory in most setups. The vehicles would be fully interactive so wouldn't necessary block movement. You can even use them to kill zombies. Yippee!
